This type of furnace is used for the recovery of Aluminium from Iron/Aluminium scrap material.

Due to the oily nature of the scrap material, this type of furnace needs to be used in conjunction with an Afterburner to destroy all V.O.C.'s given off by the initial heating of the scrap material.

Molten metal is tapped out from the side of the furnace wall and flows into launder systems for either casting into ingots or billets direct or into a Holding Furnace for further treatment.
